Something strange is going on in Brooklyn. A giant bread creature is poised to attack the city, aliens are living next door, a bear turns up missing, felt critters are walking & talking, and old people start hooking up on the internets. Maybe there's something funny in the water.

The Pratt Institute's Media Arts Department proudly presents the Traditional Animation thesis films of the graduating class of 2007, as well as selected shorts. Students will be in attendance for a Q&A to talk about their stop motion, 2-D computer animation, and hand-drawn films.

Free and open to the public, May 4th & 5th, 7pm at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater

We are a group of animators that attend Pratt Institute, located in Brooklyn, New York. Here is our archives of sketches, photos, and animations.

"Spambots Invade Our Comments" or "Scott Edwards Doesn't Know That Animation Students Don't Have Income"

Scott Edwards said... [to "I'm sorry Fran, but this must be done..."]

Dumpster-diving starts biodiesel effort
Although it was a life-long dream, writing a book was the last thing on Lyle Estill's mind as he ... Estill said he first learned about biodiesel -- a fuel alternative made using natural fats such as vegetable oil -- at the Festival for the Eno in Durham five years ago.
Hey, you have a great blog here! I'm definitely going to bookmark you!
I have a income site/blog. It pretty much covers income related stuff.
Come and check it out if you get time, Scott :-)

I'm sorry, Scott Edwards, but biodiesel is incomprehensible to me. And since I have little to no (more like no) income, I am in no way able to condone your income site/blog.
Also knowing that you are a spambot hurts me and all the little children that make up my heart.
Of course I'll let Blogger delete you, but in the end, isn't it more funny to remember you in a post forever?
So everyone, beware of spambots!

Pratt Pumpkins!

I'm sorry, Fran....but this must be done...

From Ottawa Pictures - "Will Krause tries to recruite volunteers to help carry his brother, Fran, back to the hotel. Neither has slept since embarking on the Ottawa 05 Signal Film, which they made along with 13 other animators."

Hey guys, remember Ottawa saturday? Cause I don't!

Free Animation at MonkeyTown

Hey kids- here's info on a show I'm contributing to. It's being organized by the guy that made "Space War" and "Barfight." I'm doing a bit of animation with an animator I met at Ottawa, Sarah Van Den Boom. It's set to some rock-and-roll. I mean, we got "Planet Caravan", the least rocking song Sabbath ever made. Heck. It was still fun.

November 1 Day of the Dead with Black SabbathMany years ago, before the turn of the century, a man named Christy Karacas thought it might serve humanity if he and some 40 other artists all made 1 minute videos for each of the minutes of Black Sabbath's first album. Then. Like an exquisite corpse, Christy would sew the entire slew together and a seamless mash of images and sound would emerge. Many of those artists have gone on to become much better known artists and now this very exquisite video corpse has formed a lustre that eludes description and welcomes your eyeballs and ear drums. This has only been shown a few times.
AND. Get this. In honor of tonight's gathering, an entirely new corpse is being sewn. Black Sabbath's second album will play immediately following the first. And again, 40 some-odd artists will provide 1 minute snips inspired by Ozzy, et al. AND. Admission is Free. There will be cheap beer. The beds will be removed. The sound: loud. And no food will be served in the back room. Get ready!

Kong Lives!!

I dunno about you, but this gets an 11 out of 10 on Alisa's scale of coolness. I think it's pretty spiffy that the original Kong puppet isn't sitting behind glass getting rusty. Good to know he can still do his stuff!

Hey guys----the time is drawing nearer and nearer to that fabled time. Halloween. Halloween is, unfortunately, on a Monday....but I think it is worth struggling through to stay up late. We're college students. We've pulled all-nighters and have been just fine.

What're everybody's plans? If at all possible, it'd be really awesome to collect a group of us together at some point to go galavanting about.

Not sure where to go/what to do though, although drinking is probably assuredly involved. Ideas? Is this a good plan? Throw out your input!

anyone have any ideas for animated movies to show? for a movie night on campus, that is.

and if you say "empress chung", i will stab you in the jaw.

Takin' over the Klubhouse, baby!

Hey kiddies, heads up for our next meeting...

Key-Frame showdown! (aka...a club meeting. yay.)
Room G-50 in the ARC lower level
4pm on Sunday, October 23rd.

I've got some ideas on club projects, including resurecting the 10-second animation project, that should be pretty doable, and might go towards inspiring us to make a more public showcase of our work on campus (might even be able to raise a few bucks with an idea like that!).

I'd also like to check out a key myself for every weekend, and be there myself for certain posted hours. I'm sure something like that would all give us a head start on homework, not to mention there being some equiptment in there. Whaddya guys think?

Stephanie and I were wondering if anyone has an iron we can use for when we finish up the shirts. They need to be heat set.

Thanks! Don't forget, the last day to get them in is THIS THURSDAY. :)

BYOC (Bring Your Own Cheese) Wallace & Gromit Party

The movie was so awesome Friday night I want to have a Wallace & Gromit party where we can watch the original shorts and eat cheese and drink tea and stuff. I dunno when… maybe in two weekends? Anybody interested?

T-shirt design

These are the basic t-shirt designs. The bottom/top pegger shirts have a small Keyframe logo on the back and text "Pratt Animation Club", and the shirt with a large logo on the front has just the text on the back.

We have three shirts so far (t-shirts, sweatshirts, whatever you're wanting to print on). Get'em in by Oct 13. :}

Also (not actually available for print, due to silliness, but amusing...maybe O_o) the swing pegger shirt design.

Look, I gone and drew up an order form to print out and check stuff off. XD

This should give you plenty of time to find a shirt you would like the design on. A shirt that suits your soul. Your perfect t-shirt. We will not be printing shirts after that date.

2. YOUR NAME ON THE SHIRT (tag, collar, whatever printed CLEARLY so we know whos shirt belongs to who)

- Pratt Keyframe Logo exclusively on the front?
- Top Pegger/Bottom Pegger? (the logo on these shirts will be on the back of the shirts and small)
- Black Ink or White Ink? (we are only doing b/w.)

IN REGARDS TO THE ABOVE. Stephanie will be doing a follow-up post with a little checklist you can PRINT and then PIN onto your shirt before you give it to us. That way, we know EXACTLY what you want. Those with black shirts that cannot write on the tag/inside of the shirt with their name can put it also on the checklist form.

WE LIVE IN ROOM 1410 IN WILLOUGHBY. If we don't see you at a meeting, that is where you can give us your shirts. Anytime after 5PM is generally when we're home.

Thanks guys!

Meeting and such

Reminding any kiddies who check this neato meato blog...that our next Key-Frame meeting is:

Friday (10-7), 7:20 pm
at the 17th floor lounge in Willoughby dorm.

I'm borrowing a copy of Avoid Eye Contact 2 for us to watch, and afterwards whoever wants to will head out with Alisa to go see Wallace and Grommit! (see post below)

Also...where the heck is everyone on Saturdays?? I went to open drawing and Guy wasn't even there today (I am sad). If anyone is interested we should go to open drawing together on Saturdays, 1-4pm in room 4-D east hall...if you want. Pllleeeeaaase you guys know how much fun it is together! =D Except of course I wont be there next week since I'm planning on going to that juggling thing with Lee. heh.
