Something strange is going on in Brooklyn. A giant bread creature is poised to attack the city, aliens are living next door, a bear turns up missing, felt critters are walking & talking, and old people start hooking up on the internets. Maybe there's something funny in the water.

The Pratt Institute's Media Arts Department proudly presents the Traditional Animation thesis films of the graduating class of 2007, as well as selected shorts. Students will be in attendance for a Q&A to talk about their stop motion, 2-D computer animation, and hand-drawn films.

Free and open to the public, May 4th & 5th, 7pm at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater

Anybody around here this summer?

I am guessing everyone has been talking to others about their plans for the summer. However, I am not clear on where everyone else will be this summer. I really enjoyed the time spent with the animators of Pratt Institute, and because I am staying in Brooklyn this summer, It would be great if I can keep up with some of you.
I figured we could all post here on the blog where we will be this summer in relation to anyone in New York, and if our animation group wants to meet every now and then to see what's going on with everyone else in the rest of our animated world (or as animated as it gets in this day and age). I look forward to any film or animation events this summer, and will try to keep busy with whatever I can find.
I hope most of you can respond, even those who may not be around all summer. And even if you don't, I still wish you a great summer.
Emmett Goodman.

P.S. ~ I don't know if the blog can do this, but it would be nice if everyone sent a reply, and it were compiled into a list on this page. If not, oh well.

Toonfuse.com

Hey guys, Tony and I are working for Toonfuse.com. The whole point to the website is that you submit your own stories, articles and news bites about animation and Cartoons . Readers score it and then you listen to the weekly podcast to hear and see what made the cut. It's The First Cartoon News You Choose.

Go Check it out, and tell me what you think.

ASIFA yay

ASIFA tomorrow wee. So... meeting time and place? I think 6:15 in front of Willoughby is safe. If there are any objection make them known.

Something I would like to share.

I saw this video clip on a forum for Billy West (one of my ten favorite voice actors). I don't know who the main actors are, but also appearing in the video are Billy West, Gary Owens, and Maurice LaMarche (another voice master). I think it is very interesting to watch. Also, it touches up on some of the issues I currently have with the way animated movies today are handled, particularly the Dreamworks stuff. Give it a watch. It is also pretty funny. Here is the link:

http://adam-buxton.com/ad/wp-content/AJSAAAVOICE2SCRENDER.mp4

We need to get these guys into more movies. Animated films should NOT be star vehicles for anyone except the story and characters.

There is more to this as well, including a section taking place at CAL ARTS, on animation. You can find them here on this forum page:

http://www.billywest.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2334&PN=1

Enjoy.
